A new class of super-rich people who could benefit from the war in Donbas is being formed in Ukraine. Ex-minister, founder of the community initiative “Restoring Donbas” Oleksandr Klymenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.
This process, according to the politician, is accompanied by rapid recession of economy to the shadow and increase of corruption that permeates all war-related areas – beginning with pass-cards at checkpoints and up to munitioning of the army.
“It is time to stop blaming everything on the war and to cynically make money on it. It is necessary to give civilian population an opportunity to develop, and to those who have suffered – provide them with help and allow them to go forward, “- appeals to the authorities O.Klymenko.
“… Ukrainian people do not want to wait and trust – they want to act! Unfortunately, the authorities today do not need Ukrainians – they need a biomass of people mutilated by propaganda, supporting any statements and actions of the government like a herd!”- he adds.
According to politician’s estimates, Ukraine and Donbas paid a prohibitive price for the war in the East. Ex-minister notes that 4,5 thousand residential buildings, 217 educational facilities, 132 industrial facilities and 45 healthcare facilities were destroyed during the armed conflict in Donbas.
In addition, according to O.Klymenko, today a new “lost generation” has appeared in Ukraine, problems of which the authorities “will prefer to forget”. Founder of the “Restoring Donbas” notes that during the conflict in eastern Ukraine nearly 150 children were killed or seriously injured by mines and unexploded ordnance, and thousands got psychological trauma. More than one million people have left their homes because of the war and have become outcasts in their own country.
A heavy destruction, according to the calculations of the ex-minister, has been inflicted to the country’s economy. “The price of this war – is 25% of the stopped industrial potential of the country, dozens of destroyed and out-of-service largest enterprises that have been forming the main export flows. In order to rebuild and modernize the industry it will take decades and billions of investments, “- he believes.
In Oleksandr Klymenko’s opinion, one of the priorities now – is to clearly identify losses of the war, to understand the scale of the disaster and number of the victims. This will allow restoring justice and avoiding speculations.
“The Government says: “People, trust us and we will do everything for you!”. Although no one takes responsibility for the result… Give people tools to influence the situation, but do not intimidate them, do not format their brains with stupid propaganda, do not bar them from making decision! No one knows better than Ukrainians what their country needs! If Ukrainians are paying for the war, they have every right to run their own country themselves! “- summarizes politician.
