Today in Lysychansk (Luhansk province) a Social Aid Center has been opened for residents of the city and province. The Center opening has been organized by “Restoring Donbas” Community Initiative with the support of Lysychansk municipal authorities.
As Olena Petryayeva, Head of the Initiative, noted: “Problems of residents of the East have not become the problems of central government authorities. Displaced persons, people who took refuge from war, loosing everything acquired in their lives, got struck out from their agenda. The life of people in the cities and towns of Donbas is none the better. They found themselves in virtually a warlike situation and live under extreme conditions. Today we are opening a social aid center in Lysychansk. Our aim is to provide help not only to displaced persons, we want to help all residents of Luhansk province no matter on which side of the contact line they live”.
Serhii Shylin, the Mayor of Lysychansk, addressed the words of gratitude to the organizers of the Center: “Our city is located quite near the contact line. Many people came here, escaping hostilities. The majority of them need real help. A lot needs to be done for the residents of our city too, and we are glad to have such a Center opened here today. Such cooperative labor between municipal authorities and “Restoring Donbas” Initiative will redound to advantage of all residents of Luhansk province”.
Job placement is one of the largest problems faced by both displaced persons and residents of Luhansk province. As Liudmyla Sokolko, Director of the Lysychansk Municipal Employment Center, noted: “Job search is a real problem for all Luhansk province residents today. We already cooperate with many organizations which help displaced persons and residents of our city in their search for jobs and we strongly hope that our cooperation with the Social Aid Center will help to expand the means of our Employment Center either”.
The Social Aid center is located in the center of Lysychansk at: 143, Peremohy Avenue. Opening hours: from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Contact telephone numbers: (093) 618-11-22, (098) 618-11-22, (099) 618-11-22. The Social Aid Center works in the following directions:
