400 Ukrainian children turned to foreign heads of state asking for peace in Ukraine

More than 400 children from different regions of Ukraine attended the concert-requiem named «Ukraine, we are your children» organized by Restoring Donbas Initiative in Kyiv at the Singing Field. The concert was timed to Children’s Day. Fosters families, family adoptive were also invited to enjoy the concert.
– We know the kids’ problems very well. We feel each problem. We’d like the children to be protected 365 days a year, but on 1 June they’ll have Childhood Day. We’d like the kids from Donbas, Kyiv, Lviv be develop children’s diplomacy as they all dream of peace in Ukraine. Unfortunately their options are limited so we have to address to all: Listen us! Donbas wants peace at last! Donbas is a part of Ukraine! – declared Elena Petryaeva, the Head of Restoring Donbas Initiative.
Here is a story of the Lupanov’s family. Katerina, Lena and Maksim got to Zaporizhizhia in June, 2014 though their brother left on the government uncontrolled territory. Katerina, the eldest of the family, kept on trying to reunite the family, but all in vain. In May 2016 the Rogovenko’s became foster parents to three children, and has continued to fight together for a family reunion. Through the efforts of volunteers of Restoring Donbas and assistance indifferent to the torn family Sergei at least was able to return to his sisters and brother. Rassokha, Panchohi, Luzhetsky Stavtseva Foster families run form the war and settled somewhere in Kiev region. They lived in uncomfortable houses with no gas or electricity but always dreamt of a new house. Now they’re happy to have own housing thanks to Restoring Donbas Initiative volunteers, the sympathizing people and the efforts of Kyiv Regional State Administration.
– The main point for parents is a happy childhood. We are really glad to host in Kyiv region displaced families, – said Sergey Andriyash, the Head of Service for Children of Kiev Regional State Administration.
Today, 737 days since the hostilities in eastern Ukraine. During this time, 70 hospitals, 176 schools, 86 kindergartens, 26 stadiums destroyed. According to official figures, more than 200 thousand children have to escape the war.
About a million children still live on uncontrolled territories. According to the official data 199 children were killed, more than 500 were injured.
– Children are the most valuable thing we have. We must keep the peace for them. We must give them love and ensure the future. Let it be our common goal! – said Oleksandr Klimenko, the founder of Restoring Donbas Initiative.
The participants of the concert appeal to the heads of foreign states. The children’s appeal was served to Samuel Marie-Fanon, the expert of the European Commission in Ukraine, William Bystryansky, US Consul General, Alexey Oskin, the representative of the OSCE mission in Ukraine.
The kids let the doves fly into the sky at the very end of the concert.
