The European Commission allocated €4 million to residents of Donbas

According to the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine the European Commission has allocated € 4 million to immediate assistance for humanitarian needs in Eastern Ukraine. The total amount of humanitarian aid provided by the EU in 2016 to Ukraine has increased to € 26.4 million.
“The humanitarian aspects of the crisis in eastern Ukraine are the priority in our program of action”, – Christ Stylianidis, the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response said.
“These additional funds will help thousands of people in need to live decently during cold months of the year”, – he added.
It is reported that EU support will be given through partner humanitarian organizations that provide humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable and the most affected people by the conflict in Donbas.
“We are talking about food, water, shelter, psychosocial support and other emergency relief, in particular -charcoal. In particular we emphases our assistance on the protection of the population, as well as the need for access to health care, mobile clinics, essential drugs and special medical care “, – the report says.
According to EU data, more than 3.1 million people are in need of humanitarian help due to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. From the beginning of the crisis in April 2014 the EU and its member states have provided 371 million euros as humanitarian assistance.
