The number of victims in Donbas increased to almost 9.5 thousand people, – UN

According to the latest United Nations data, 9.449 persons were killed and 21.843 injured during the conflict in Donbas. The figures were announced by Assistant UN Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic in Geneva.
He noted that at least 9.449 dead, about 2,000 persons were civilians. According to him, most of civilians died during the chaotic shelling in residential areas.
Simonovic also said that at least 21.843 people were injured in Donbas. He noted that thanks to the Minsk negotiations the number of casualties among the civilians has fallen to less than ten killed and 30 wounded since September of 2015.
The situation in Ukraine is unpredictable, – Ivan Simonovic stressed.
It is noted that no further steps in the establishment of lasting peace, the threat of escalation of the conflict, will entail serious consequences for the civilian population and the region.
