He said that during the fighting in the region 15 thsnd ha of woods were damaged. However, it’s not the exact figure as for now it is impossible to investigate all the territories regarding the fact that the largest part of the territories are mined.
“One thousand hectares of young trees, reportedly were planted this year, so we are going to do next year”, – Vladimir Shevchenko.
“Prior to the events of 2014, we planted annually up to 5 thsnd. ha of forest plantations. So far to restore the we need to plant the same quantity during 10-15 years”, – Vladimir Shevchenko noted.
He also added that due to the reorganization of all Departments of Forestry and Hunting in Ukraine, there are problems with financing. Therefore, to help foresters in forest planting and forest management repeatedly came colleagues from Chernigov, Zhytomyr and Lviv regions.
