As it was announced by Mariupol City Mayor Vadim due to the problematic issue of drinking water in Mariupol, Donetsk region are planning to build a desalination plant.
“We have deep concern as for the problem of drinking water. Various solutions considered, and we came to the conclusion that we need to build a desalination plant in Mariupol. We have already hold talks with a number of businesses, in particular with a US company, which is ready to invest in our city about $52 million”, – Vadym Boychenko said.
At the moment, the issue is under the control of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, according to Boychenko. In particular, negotiations are underway to further provide guarantees for US investment.
According to Boychenko, an American company can also build capacity for the production of filters and filtration equipment.
The issue of drinking water in the city is quite acute. First, the water quality standards exceed the hardness salts and almost doubled its natural composition, and, secondly, the water passes through temporarily uncontrolled territory, due to which water supply to the city is constantly under the threat.
70% of water is received from Yuzhnodonbasskaya aqueduct from the Seversky Donets River and 30% of water comes from the old-Crimean reservoir being on the Kalchyk river.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ukrainian side is cut off the water supply uncontrolled territory of Donbas.
