The contact group in Minsk agreed on the new “silence mode” in Donbas

The special representative of the OSCE in the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in Donbas Martin Sajdik said that the TCGP and controlled by Russian militants are expressing commitment to sustainable ceasefire in the Donbas from midnight on 24 December. It was announced at a press briefing following the meeting of the Trilateral contact group in Minsk.
«We, the members of the Trilateral contact group and representatives of the ORDO emphasizing the need to ensure peace and tranquility for the upcoming holidays, we reaffirm our commitment to comprehensive, sustainable and indefinite ceasefire starting from 00: 00 hours on 24 December this year, Kyiv time,» – Sidik said.
According to Sajdik, the parties also expressed their commitment to the effective continuation of the Minsk process in the next, 2017.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side demands that the town of Debaltsevo was another site where there should be instituted and power tools. As Darya Olifer, the press-secretary of the representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group, the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Ukraine insists on demilitarization of Sahanka, Kumachove and Komsomolsk.
She recalled that the forces had not been withdrawn round Stanitsa Luhanska within the framework Minsk agreement.
