Deputies rejected the proposal on compensation for destroyed housing in Donbas

The deputies of Verkhovna Rada did not adopt two bills regarding the compensation to citizens for damages of private houses destroyed or damaged during the anti-terrorist operation.
The draft law №4301 proposed to fix that “the damages done during the anti-terrorist operation to be compensated in 2017 at the expense of the state budget through a separate budget program provided for Ministry of Regional Development.”
This compensation to be done in accordance with the results of a survey of objects located in Donetsk and Luhansk regions (controlled by Ukrainian government) by a special commission, with the exception of Kiev uncontrolled territories and settlements on collision line.
According to another draft bill №4301-1 — 83 “the state takes on the responsibility for the damages caused to the population”, and agrees to pay compensation for damages destroyed “as a result of the ATO”.
Viktor Pynzenyk , MP admitted that no one undertook to count possible costs. To his opinion, “the state will need tens of billions of hryvnia.” Viktor Pynzenyk worries “who will master this money.” Therefore, he urged not to support the bill in this edition.
