The UN provided technical equipment for the EECP in Donbas

The official ceremony on handing over the technical assistance to improve the conditions at the checkpoint of entry and exit “Novotroitske” was hold on the EECP in Donetsk region as reported by the press service of the State Border Service.
In particular, the UN Refugee Agency helped installed additional modules with computer equipment for monitoring and equipped workplaces for employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The Agency’s assistance project also provided for the placement of tents with a heating system for the State Emergency Service in waiting areas near the crossing points.
The budget of the technical assistance program amounted UAH 3.5 million and, apart from EECP Novotroitske, EECP Marinka and Mayorsk to be supplied with the same modules and equipment. The technical equipment for checkpoints, which was funded by the humanitarian assistance of the EU and other international donors, would also help to increase the capacity of check points in the east of Ukraine and reduce the waiting time for people in line.
The UN reportedly said that the number of victims in Donbas doubled compared to the end of 2016.
