The UN monitoring mission on human rights calls on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to resume the payment of pensions to the residents of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions stated by Fiona Fraser, the Head of the monitoring mission in Ukraine during the briefing in Kiev on 15 March.
Fraser recalled that 160,000 pensioners living on the territories beyond the Government control do not receive a pension from November 2014. She also called on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to remove the pegging of pensions for the residents of Donbas to IDP certificate.
In its report, the UN also calls on the government to provide social benefits to everyone.
– We recommend breaking off the link between the right to receive a pension and the need to register the status of an internally displaced person, – Fraser said.
NSDC reportedly introduced a complete transport blockade of Donbas.
