150 displaced people with disabilities found employment thanks to USAID

IDPs with disabilities, injured ATO militaries, as well as local residents with disabilities from front-line communities participated in the mutual USAID and the National Assembly of Disabled People in Ukraine grant project amounted $1000 “Trainings, economic opportunities, support technologies and medical/physical rehabilitation services” covering Donetsk, Lviv, Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.
– This project assumes different forms of assistance: the promotion of employment for people with disabilities, training for short-term courses, mini-grants to open own businesses, physical rehabilitation, – Nadezhda Polamarchuk, the head of Donetsk regional organization of disabled people said.
More than 700 applicants registered for the grants programme from Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Konstiantynivka and Druzhkovka. So, 400 IDPs with disabilities had mastered new professions or completed the courses, retraining made possible to employ 150 people.
The USAID project will be prolonged till June 2017. Afterwards, after monitoring and analyse of the results the donors to decide whether to keep on the project.
