“Restoring Donbas” to participate in the project of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum

“Soul Mates” is an international cultural and artistic project of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum with the participation of the Spanish sculptor and artist Carlos Garcia Laos, suppoted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Ukraine, the Department of Culture of Province of Aragon, the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, and the “Restoring Donbas”, volunteer charitable organization “House of Kindness”.
The graphic works of Shevchenko from the collection of the National Museum and copies of the etchings from the original boards of Francisco de Goya from “Caprichos”, which are kept in the museum collection of Francisco de Goya in Zaragoza (Spain) exhibited in the Museum as well as the abstract sculptures of Carlos García Laos with a deep conceptual meaning: Motherhood, Hypocrisy, Essence, Loneliness, Humanism, Beginning – The End, Symbiosis, Soul, Art.
The project highlights the moral and ethical problems of mankind outside of time and space. They say that modern society is experiencing moral disorientation and a moral “fall”. Two great artists created masterpieces at time when people needed moral and ethical guidelines and self-determination.
The social part of the event would be represented by children’s work living along the contact line and by children with special needs expressing the sharp reflection within the social project “House of Kindness”.
The combination of the works of brilliant artists of the past, the contemporary artists and children’s works in one space will help to better understand and hear each other, to reflect on the social problems that Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine, Francisco de Goya and Carlos Garcia Laos covered in Spain, everywhere and always.
The exhibition opens on 7 April in the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko till 23 Apri with a master class on 12 April at 15:00.
