The Red Cross assisted to more than a million Ukrainians from Donbas

The Red Cross Committee in Ukraine, with the support of international partners, has spent over 500 million UAH to help more than 1 million affected from the military conflict population in the East of Ukraine stated by the Director General of the National Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine Liliya Belous during the II International Conference on Civil-Military Cooperation.
– We provided financial assistance, helped to rebuild destroyed houses, attracted humanitarian assistance to the affected population, assisted in evacuation. Over 2014-2016, the Committee provided assistance to more than 1 million affected people for the total amount of over UAH 500 million, – Belous said.
She also noted that the Red Cross, in close cooperation with partners, is implementing its programs in Donetsk, Luhansk regions, as well as in adjacent areas affected by the conflict, where the number of people who left Donbas because of the conflict increased.
Let’s remind, earlier it was informed, that 62% of IDPs in Luhansk region are women.
