The bank refused to exchange money partially burned in the house after the shelling in Mariinka. The fire damaged the family’s money savings, so banknotes burned around the edges. The head of the family applied to the bank to exchange partially burned money, but the employees of the local bank branch refused to exchange damaged banknotes without explaining the reasons.
However, the lawyers of “Right to Protect” Foundation assisted in written appeals and complaints to the board of the bank and to the National Bank of Ukraine. The lawyers also noted that the denial of the exchange of banknotes indicates a violation of the rights of the client in the exchange of damaged banknotes and insisted on the appropriate procedure for determining the total area of the banknote, which remained unscathed.
In April, the bank’s management decided to exchange all damaged bills of the family of IDPs.
